Job Description

Since 2016, T-Rex Solutions (T-Rex) has been supporting large scale hybrid-cloud migrations and systems modernization, to include the successful deployment of the first-ever online U.S. Census in 2020. T-Rex is actively expanding its IT Modernization services within the Federal Civilian market, specifically supporting the Department of Education's strategic priorities.

T-Rex is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer with hands-on experience architecting and designing databases, dashboards, and reports that drive prioritized and desired outcomes for the Department of Education. You will lead the development and deployment of BI capabilities using tools like Kion, Microsoft SQL Server, and Power BI in our Office 365 environment to help us identify infrastructure risk, inform solution development, and drive more effective and efficient operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess customer's requirements and intent and develop a deep understanding of structured data and the ways it could be used to produce business value
  • Identify reporting needs through consultation with leaders across the company
  • Create and maintain the data structures and integrations needed to provide robust reporting capabilities based on data from multiple data sources
  • Develop and publish reports, metrics, and dashboards that meet the needs of the Department of Education
  • Instantiate the program's implementation of Kion to aggregate, streamline, and report key performance indicators
  • Leverage the Office 365 and Azure platforms to deliver robust, secure, accurate, and performant reporting capabilities
  • Ensure that all BI resources are protected in a manner consistent with company policies, procedures, standards, and information security controls
  • Suggest and implement improvements in the deployment and usage of BI tools, including how to leverage new features, best practices, and improved governance
  • Develop and update technical and end user documentation

Requirements:

  • Strong skills and hands-on experience with relevant technologies, including:
    • Kion
    • Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or newer) or MySQL
    • Power BI
    • T-SQL
    • ETL
  • General cloud awareness to include products and services associated with AWS and Azure to include experience with hosting databases and BI tools in Microsoft Azure
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet with customers to gather and understand business requirements
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new situations and changing priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must be punctual, reliable, and accountable for themselves, with ability to follow through with tasks to completion
  • Possess an orientation towards solving rather than simply identifying problem areas
  • Creative thinker who excels at finding novel solutions to challenging business needs

Desired Education & Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience as a BI Developer or Data Scientist
  • 5+ years of experience with DBMS, OLAP, and ETL technologies
  • 2+ years of experience developing advanced reports and dashboards using Kion (formerly CloudTamer) and Power BI
  • Experience working in an agile environment preferred

In compliance with pay transparency guidelines, the annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. T-Rex considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
