Job Summary
Provides clinical direction for all aspects of patient care, specifically diagnostic and interventional Cardiovascular procedures. Supports the procedural team as circulator providing moderate sedation, scrubbing with the physician table side or monitoring and documenting the case. Maintains competency in each role, utilizing evidence-based practices and research consistent with an acute care registered nurse. Performs procedures effectively during call back. Exercises appropriate judgement utilizing resources.Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology (EP) Labs
Our Cath lab and EP labs are in our Free-standing Heart Hospital. The EP lab consist of 2 EP suites, and we are in the process of opening an additional space for EP as our program is growing. We currently have 4 dedicated EP physicians and are in the process of adding more physicians. We do all types of ablations, device implants and watchmen in our EP labs.

Patient Assessment - Completes direct patient pre-procedure assessment for sedation. Reports and documents findings.\u00A0 Gathers pertinent records needed for procedures such as: History and Physical, Lab reports, and Medication Record. Anticipates and/or predicts changes and modifies any care delivered to best meet the needs of the patient.\u00A0 - 15%
Circulating - Completes and maintains annual departmental competencies. Performs inpatient/outpatient treatment procedures and physician orders.\u00A0 Operates applicable hospital equipment.\u00A0 Takes immediate and appropriate action in life-threatening emergencies and/ or crisis situations. Adheres to radiation safety guidelines.\u00A0 Performs point-of-care testing. - 15%
Communication - Communicates appropriately. Functions as a team player demonstrating willingness to help whenever necessary, displaying a positive image of the department and Prisma Health. Utilizes SBAR communication tools.\u00A0 Ensures physician is informed of all pertinent patient information. - 5%
Documentation - Follows Prisma Health guidelines for nursing documentation.\u00A0 Performs sedation documentation per Prisma Health policy.\u00A0 Creates and maintains Cath Lab/ Mac lab patient records in Epic EMR.\u00A0 Documents procedures and patient care which reflect treatment. - 10%
Education - Ensures that the patient understands and consents to procedures to be performed; contact physician performing procedure as needed.\u00A0 Ensures that the patient and family are well informed; fulling explaining time frames to family members. Maintains BLS/ACLS certification. - 10%
Organizational Skill - Demonstrates organizational ability by using time/equipment/resources effectively.\u00A0 Recognizes/analyzes/solves problems.\u00A0 Anticipates needs of physicians. - 10%
Equipment Responsibilities - Proper care and cleaning of patient equipment and all items in procedure room.\u00A0 Maintenance and stocking of supplies for smooth operation of department.\u00A0- 5%
Scrub Role - Proper care and cleaning of patient equipment and all items in procedure room.\u00A0 Maintenance and stocking of supplies for smooth operation of department.\u00A0- 20%
Hemodynamic Monitoring Role - responsible for accurate and timely documentation of events of the case. Interpretation and management of Hemodynamic monitoring. Anticipates potential issues and demonstrates clinical assessment and intervention, notifying physician and team of alterations in hemodynamics. Accurately charges procedures. - 10%
Supervisory/Management Responsibility
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Associate's Degree- Nursing; BSN preferred.
2 Years- Critical Care or prior CCL experience.
Required Licensures/Registrations/Certifications
SC Licensed RN - Registered Nurse
In Lieu Of The Above Minimum Requirements
BSN and 1 year of Critical Care or CCL
In lieu of an AD N, will also accept nursing diploma with RN licensure.
