WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Engagement & Special Projects Senior Manager/Director will work closely with the NYC Office Leader (OL) and NYC Business Management Executive Director (BMXD), collectively, the NYC office Leadership Team, to support shaping and execution of internal and external engagement and communications strategy for BCG New York. The Engagement & Special Projects Senior Manager/Director will also have a role in supporting the Leadership Team as they shape and implement of their business and people priorities, helping to ensure that the New York office takes a strategic and thoughtful approach to defining and executing day-to-day on internal and external engagement opportunities in support of its broader people and commercial objectives.

In this role, you will develop a broad understanding of the New York office, including its role within BCG as well as the broader business community, unique challenges and opportunities faced, and scope of day-to-day operations across functions. You will leverage this understanding to support delivery of the office strategy at the direction of the office Leadership Team and in coordination with the NYC Events Team, including but not limited to:
  • Supporting the Office Leadership Team in reviewing and refining our people and affiliation strategy for the New York office, including leadership on topics related to DEI network affiliation and support and cohort-specific initiatives (e.g., Cohort Councils, cohort affiliation activities etc.)
  • Leading analysis of office performance data, including review of annual People Survey results, office attendance and space utilization data (in conjunction with the NYC Operations Director) and commercial performance data (in conjunction with Finance)
  • Executing office strategy and approach toward "Seat at the Table" (SATT) opportunities, ensuring office leaders, MDPs and other staff are focused effectively on strengthening the office's connection to key industry groups and the broader business community
  • Engaging with NAMR Marketing and Alumni leaders alongside NY Office Leadership and the NYC Events team to coordinate planning and execution of flagship level events in service of NYC commercial and SATT objectives
  • Creating and improving office communications to ensure communications are in service of overall office strategy and to optimize the connection and feedback loop between office leaders and staff; this includes but is not limited to working with the Leadership Team on creation of meeting agendas, presentation materials, and arranging speakers for various events (e.g., all-staff and MDP meetings, and other events) facilitation of working team meetings, drafting office leadership communications, and maintaining the digital signage approach for the office

The Engagement & Special Projects Senior Manager/Director will also flex to meet the ad-hoc, everyday needs of the office, providing leverage to the Leadership Team to enable their sharpened focus on high priority items. This may include coverage of roles within the People or Operations teams in the event of leaves or outages to maintain sufficient leverage for members of the Leadership Team. Perhaps most importantly, the Engagement & Special Projects Senior Manager/Director will serve as another set of eyes for office leadership, taking a unique, "bird's-eye view" perspective to look across siloed office activities and identify and coordinate across gaps and opportunities.

In this role, the Engagement & Special Projects Senior Manager/Director will need to work effectively with senior members of the Consulting and BST staff in the New York office as an integral part of the office Leadership Team who is able to independently run with initiatives on behalf of that same team.


YOU'RE GOOD AT
Strategy definition and execution:
  • Supporting office leadership to thoughtfully advise on strategic decision-making by contributing ideas, making connections, and identifying gaps
  • Collaborating with the Leadership Team to develop and refine strategic vision for key aspects of office strategy by:
    • Translating high-level business priorities into specific initiatives that support overall office strategy (e.g., defining SATT strategy)
    • Prioritizing available initiatives to ensure optimal allocation of time and resources
    • Executing against these initiatives by proposing, refining and implementing processes and communications to support them
  • Looking across all office activities to ensure that any actions taken are consistent with and advance business and people priorities

Stakeholder management:
  • Ability to represent perspectives of the Leadership Team in meetings when called upon
  • Helping to align stakeholders behind business and people priorities and to advocate for office objectives
    • Recommending when and how to bring critical stakeholders in on key decisions
    • Understanding needs and priorities for critical stakeholders, and using these to inform engagement approach with these individuals
    • Recognizing disconnects or disagreements among stakeholders and determining whether, when, and how to solve
  • Engaging with stakeholders on behalf of office leaders in order to advance office priorities

Communication strategy:
  • Leading development of executive-level communications in the form of PowerPoint presentations, Word memos, emails, and synthesis of survey data
  • Serving as a thought partner to office leaders in developing office communications, including ad-hoc or challenging communications relating to business outcomes and current events
    • Crafting messaging that translates critical events or decisions into compelling narratives that resonate with stakeholders
  • Defining and deploying proactive communication strategies that support execution of business and people priorities and achieve buy-in from critical stakeholders
  • Identifying opportunities for enhanced communications, including building greater awareness around office activities and establishing a more robust feedback loop between office leaders and staff

Project management and execution:
  • Translating Leadership Team priorities into detailed project workplans with view of milestones, roles and responsibilities for team members, and engagement required from other stakeholders
  • Leading meetings with office leaders to discuss project progress and surface opportunities or roadblocks
    • Identifying specific areas where office leadership input is needed and framing input required appropriately
  • Serving as day-to-day contact on project status for office leaders and other stakeholders

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
  • 5-7 years of professional work experience with increasing levels of responsibility ideal; 3-5 years BCG consulting team experience acceptable
  • Undergraduate degree required, MBA or other professional degree preferred
  • Experience in a corporate environment recognized for best-in-class approaches to people and operations
    • Experience with BCG and ability to navigate the organization strongly preferred
  • Experience working with senior teams (e.g., MDPs, BST Senior and Executive Directors), preferably in a dynamic project-based work environment
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders with a diverse set of priorities and incentives
  • Project management experience, with demonstrated ability to drive projects forward independently
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and change; ability to adapt to day-to-day demands of running an office and work in a context where ownership, accountability and way forward may not be clear
  • Professional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Slack, Trello and other organization tools
  • Fluent in English language - oral and written

YOU'LL WORK WITH
The Engagement & Special Projects Senior Manager/Director will work closely with the New York Leadership Team and other senior stakeholders the office, i.e., MDPs and Senior BST members, as well as with office administrative and operations staff. Close collaboration with the NYC Events, People and Operations Teams will be required given the nature of internal and external affiliation and Seat at the Table activities. The position will require strong cross-functional collaboration across critical office functions, as well as ability to effectively interface with other offices in the System and Region, including Boston, Brooklyn, and New Jersey.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, contributions to BCG's Profit Sharing and Retirement Fund (PSRF), and a market leading benefits package described below.

We expect total annualized compensation for New York City-based employees to be approximately the following:

  • Base salary between $112,000- $197,000 (USD); placement within this range will vary based on experience and skill level

  • Annual discretionary performance bonus between 0-30%

  • 5% Profit Sharing Retirement Fund (PSRF) contribution, increasing to 10% after two years of service. Contributions are vested immediately and there is no waiting period

  • First year annualized target total compensation: $115,000 - $205,000 (USD)
