Functions in a drawing production engineering technician capacity. Under minimum supervision, performs basic functions requiring technical knowledge utilizing electronic applications, processes, standards and document control processes/procedures for the purpose of creating or modifying deliverables. Evaluates methods used to accomplish the drafting and/or design activities.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Water/Wastewater CADD Technician, we'll count on you to:

  • Draft/design HDR Water projects.
  • Project work will include the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, water mains, sewer collection mains and stormwater piping.
  • With occasional assistance from project engineers and managers, produce drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of water and wastewater engineering designs using computer-aided drafting software
  • Develop deliverables with necessary views, sections, and details using Company and/or Client standards and procedures with supervision.
  • Ensure that the deliverables are compliant with Company and/or Client Standards, sketches, marked copies and written or verbal instructions.
  • Learn and understand project and Company standards and procedures.
  • Perform minor computations such as material quantity estimate, dimensional checks, etc, as assigned.
  • Conduct field investigations and inspections as needed
  • Direct efforts of less-experienced BIM Technicians as needed
  • Learn new programs or processes required for assignments.
  • Continuously evaluate methods used to accomplish the activities they have been assigned.
  • Effectively communicating and corresponding with team members.
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Associate or technical school degree, or combination of education and relevant experience
  • A minimum of 6 years experience in civil design with BIM programs
  • Requires good working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, InRoads, LDD, and construction documents
  • Land Desktop 2005 is desirable
  • Requires a good working knowledge of BIM, construction documents and technical knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communication and documentation skills are essential
  • Civil drafting background with underground utility experience
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Intermediate knowledge of Computer Automated Drafting Design (CADD) or other applications or design or modeling skills.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering standards, systems, document control, and departmental guides.
  • Basic industry knowledge and technology trends
  • Basic ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned.
