Position Summary

Odyssey is looking for a Molecular Research Technician IV to support the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) Multi-drug resistant organism Repository and Surveillance Network (MRSN) by providing in real-time surveillance of Multi-drug resistant (MDR) bacteria and outbreak investigation assistance across the entire Military Healthcare System (MHS).

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

    Ability to manage a high-throughput sequencing laboratory focused on bacterial genetics.
  • Extensive knowledge of bacterial genetics and experience with modern molecular laboratory protocols for the manipulation of bacteria
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting DNA extraction and DNA sequencing library preparation kits and protocols.
  • Extensive knowledge of current long and short read NGS platforms and their associated reagents and protocols
  • Extensive experience in the operation of liquid handlers

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Clearance: NACI (able to obtain)

Education: BS

Years' experience: 8 years of experience

Preferred Required Qualifications:

Education: Masters

Additional Information:

Location: Available onsite at WRAIR, TAMC, BAMC, and LRMC, Germany 100% of the time

Travel: 25%

Remote, Onsite, or Hybrid: Onsite
