We are a professional services firm that provides third-party retirement plan administration services for companies that sponsor Employee Stock Ownership (ESOP) and 401(k) Plans. 401(k) Plan Onboarding Specialist - Remote
The Role:
Blue Ridge is looking to add an experienced 401(k) Plan Onboarding Specialist to our New Business Team.  In this role you will manage the transition and set up of incoming plans and existing plans.  Ideally you will have at least 5 years of experience working in implementation, with a major focus on plan design and client consultation.
 
Essential Functions

  1. Proposal Support:  Enter the prospect into SalesForce and create the necessary fee quote(s) for the requesting party.
  2. Plan Design Consultation:  Collaborate with Plan Sponsors and their advisors to create a plan that best meets their needs.  If a prior plan is in place, review the prior provisions, offer suggested revisions and ensure all protected benefits are addressed. 
  3. Plan Design Illustrations:  Create Plan Design Illustrations including profit sharing, match and/or safe harbor plan features to assist with the plan design discussion. 
  4. Plan Document Creation:  Create a plan document package using either an industry recognized plan document system.
  5. Project Management:  Ensure a smooth transition of incoming plans.  This includes coordinating with Plan Sponsors and prior providers to collect the necessary documentation, completing the paperwork necessary for the Recordkeepers, and attending ongoing status calls.
 
Skills/Abilities/ Education/Experience 
  1. Extensive background working with defined contribution plans including plan design consultation, drafting plan documents, and non-discrimination testing.
  2. Strong communication skills and the ability to break complex regulations and concepts down so they can be easily understood by plan sponsors.
  3. Subject matter expert with a thorough understanding of ERISA, DOL and IRS regulations.
  4. Knowledge of one or more plan document drafting system (FT Williams, ASC, Relius)
  5. Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) or higher credential from ASPPA is a plus, but not required.
  6. A Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience.

Supervisory Responsibility 
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 
 
Work Environment 
This job operates in a clerical office setting, either in our Columbia, MD office, Charlottsville, VA office or remote.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copiers.  The office environment and job duties include work conducted via in-person face-to-face meetings, videoconferencing, telephone, and other interactions on the computer. 
 
Physical Demands 
This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and opening cabinets.  This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary.
 
Travel 
Travel will not be required for this position.
