Human Resources Associate

The Jewish Museum is looking for a bright, energetic go-getter to join its Human Resources team. The person filling this role will gain experience in a broad range of HR functions, with a focus on payroll, benefits, talent recruitment, and staff initiatives. This position is fast-paced, and requires an ability to multitask, an attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills. In addition, we are looking for someone flexible, who can adjust to changing priorities with humor and positivity. The Human Resources Associate will have access to confidential information so good judgment and trustworthiness are critical as well.

Reports to: Director, Human Resources
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Full-time; 35 hours/week
Responsibilities:
  • Process payroll-related information including new hires, transfers, and terminations using ADP's Workforce Now system. Perform data entry in the ADP system on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist with staff and intern recruitment, including managing job postings, outreach,
  • Assist with employee benefits administration, including enrollments, terminations, monthly invoice reconciliations open enrollment periods, and staff with benefits questions
  • Assist with managing the departmental budget by monitoring spending, reconciling monthly credit card statements and processing all incoming invoices
  • Support the Museum's ambitious DEAI efforts by researching and coordinating DEAI focused initiatives and training seminars; assist the HR Director with meeting various goals outlined in the DEAI Action Plan
  • Coordinate staff events such as all-staff meetings, monthly lunch & learn seminars, training sessions and the annual staff holiday party
  • Research and coordinate ongoing wellness programing for the Museum staff
  • Provide day-to-day support for general staff inquiries, and administrative support for the HR Department
  • Maintain the Museum's computerized and hard-copy personnel and payroll files
  • Perform clerical functions such as: overseeing the purchase of office supplies, updating HR driven materials (such as phone directories and emergency contact lists)
  • Serve as the backup to the Administration Division Coordinator for mailroom related duties
Requirements:
  • 2+ years Human Resources experience preferably in an art or cultural institution
  • Working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now or similar ADP payroll and attendance tracking products helpful
  • Self motivated individual with ability to prioritize and multitask. Must be well organized, detail oriented and have excellent follow through skills
  • Flexible in the face of unexpected difficulties, able to find creative solutions to problems
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products.Experience with Google platform preferred
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate with diplomacy, discretion, and tact with staff at all levels and with colleagues in the museum community

Salary Range for Postion: $55,000 - $60,000
