Job Description
Position summary:
The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including recruitment, employee relations, training/development, compensation, reporting, benefits, leave, and enforcing company policies and practices as well as collective bargaining agreements.
Position responsibilities:
  • Recruitment – leads recruitment including developing/updating job descriptions in collaboration with hiring manages, screens resumes and applicants, arranges interviews with hiring managers, conducts reference checks and arranges for background checks in collaboration with HR Coordinator.
  • Training and Development – Supports a continuous learning culture by assisting with training and development initiatives.  Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Employee Relations – Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, investigations, disciplinary matters, disputes, investigations, and union grievances.
  • Compensation – Supports compensation related activities such as new hire offers; salary increases to ensure compliance with the company’s compensation framework.  Assists with the annual participation in compensation surveys.
  • Benefits Administration - Administer and execute benefits and leave programs.
  • EEO and affirmative action reports and documentation with government agencies on an annual basis as required by Federal Contracting organizations.  This may include but not be limited to gather, compile, analyze and interpret data necessary for annual government compliance.
  • Performance and talent management development and administration.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs utilizing ADP WFN onboarding program. Oversight of background checks and employee eligibility verifications, working closely with HR Coordinator/HR Team.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position responsibilities:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP a plus.
  • HRIS and Payroll experience in ADP WFN required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Analytical acumen.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. 
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
Detail
  • Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm
  • FLSA: Exempt from overtime.
