Job/Internship Description

Science Systems and Applications Inc (SSAI) is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to provide support for an exciting project at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). Support includes optimization of code performance, preparation and conduct of regression test suites to test codes on new compilers or computer systems.

The successful candidate will modify selected representative code segments to use "DO CONCURRENT" in order to utilize GPUs and evaluate the modified code for correctness and computational performance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Using GPU to accelerate earth system models.
  • Knowledge of using modern Fortran.
  • Computing platforms such as NASA supercomputers.
  • Shell scripting, running multi-node parallel jobs, batch queuing systems, etc.
  • Participation in group meetings including presentation of results.

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate student/Graduate student with a background in Computer science/physical sciences/engineering
  • The applicant should have background and strong interest in programming with compiled language;
  • Shell scripting experience, preferably in a Linux environment.
  • Prior exposure to Fortran and programming on GPU
  • Permanent Residency or US Citizenship required.
