The Department of Epidemiology, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health seeks a Biostatistician to work as a member of a data coordinating center team that manages and analyzes data from a nationwide cohort study of kidney disease in children, as well as a study of kidney outcomes after surgical repair of congenital heart disease in children. The biostatistician will collaborate with epidemiologists, statisticians, project coordinators and clinical investigators from the respective studies and will be actively involved in both data analysis and management, for the purpose of publishing scientific investigations and facilitating long-term study conduct. The biostatistician will conduct applied epidemiologic research with biostatistical methods.
The biostatistician, in collaboration with senior and/or clinical investigators, will analyze data for scientific manuscripts and presentations as well as for reports and meetings focused on study conduct, data collection, and data quality assurance. The biostatistician will work in partnership with faculty, and over time more independently, as the primary analyst assisting clinical investigators. Primary duties will include designing and implementing scientifically-focused analytic plans, manuscript writing, developing and implementing tracking systems to monitor and report study progress, maintaining centralized data files for analysis projects, and performing quality assurance
activities.
As a member of the data coordinating center team, the biostatistician will have broad oversight by faculty members of the team, including Derek Ng and Christopher Pierce. Over time, degree of independence is expected to increase.
