Job Description
The Instructional Assistant supports campers and staff operationally in the College's GenCyber Camp.

Through a grant awarded by the National Security Agency and National Science Foundation, HCC is offering a GenCyber Camp for rising 7th, 8th, and 9th grade girls interested in cyber. This no-cost opportunity is targeted toward underrepresented populations in cybersecurity as well as those who may not otherwise be able to afford camp.

HCC's GenCyber Camp goals are to:
  • Ignite, sustain, and increase awareness of K-12 cybersecurity content and cybersecurity post-secondary and career opportunities for participants through year-round engagement.
  • Increase student diversity in cybersecurity college and career readiness pathways at the K-12 level.

Campers who attend a GenCyber Camp at Harford will code iRoot robots, fly mini drones, create a security ID badge, program using Arduino or Raspberry Pi, study ethical hacking and so much more! Campers will engage in hands-on activities and projects throughout the camp week all focused on cybersecurity concepts.

The Instructional Assistant communicates effectively with campers, staff, and parents/guardians, implements safety and operational procedures, and performs other duties as assigned by instructor.

Camps operates July 8th - 12th and Aug 5th - 7th. Camp Aides are required to attend employee training, to be scheduled the week of June 10, 2024.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. Work is generally performed on the College campus unless otherwise specified.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position.
Required Education
Must be at least 18 years of age or 17 with a high school diploma/GED.
Required Experience
Coaching, teaching or related experience working with youth preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to successfully pass CJIS and CPS background screening.
  • Basic understanding of computer software applications and programming.

Preferred Qualifications
General Weekly Work Schedule
Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (8 hour shifts)
