About the Job

About The Job:

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Loan Servicing Commercial Servicing Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the Loan Servicing daily functions and staff. The team is responsible for life of loan servicing Commercial, Consumer and Residential Mortgage loans. The team is responsible for servicing complex loan products such as Synciation, Participations and Swaps. Maintains in-depth knowledge of all aspects of loan servicing including but not limited to regulatory issues. This position is cross-trained in all phases of departmental activities and is expected to assist in meeting objectives during peak periods and during periods of personnel absences. Demonstrates exceptional communication skills through concise and confident messaging to stakeholders and team members.

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • MANAGEMENT OF FUNCTION

Responsible for daily management of workflow by prioritizing volume and shifting resources as needed. Identifies priorities as they shift. Develops and achieves goals and objectives for the overall enhancement of the unit and function. Responsible for overseeing staffing, scheduling, and coverage for the unit.

  • LOAN SERVICING OPERATIONS

Ensures all work is processed according to procedures and on schedule. Answers questions and provides guidance to staff and internal partners in interpreting policies and procedures. Reviews all correspondence sent to customers and other departments.

  • PROCEDURES AND PROBLEM RESOLUTION

Leads team members when answering questions of a more complex nature. Develops procedures for the proper handling of loan accounts and transactions. Provides input, as needed, regarding new products or enhancements to current products and procedures. Ensures that all balancing problems are resolved promptly and adequate procedures are developed to prevent future problems.

  • SYSTEM CHANGES AND CONVERSIONS

Assists in gathering information on programming needs and submits recommendations for system changes to division manager. Works closely with Loan and Deposit liaisons and assists in the implementation and communication of system enhancements. Participates in system conversion processes as needed.

  • SUPERVISION

Provide routine coaching, training and assistance for direct reports to develop knowledge, skills and abilities to maximize performance and potential. Document performance and complete performance review forms in a timely manner.


Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Position requires a professional level of knowledge equivalent to a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field with a minimum of 5 to 7 years of responsible experience in Commercial loan servicing. Direct experienced with Syndications and Participations required. Experience with Special Assets and accounting principles related to those transactions required. Strong knowledge of derivative products (swaps) encouraged. Supervision experience also required.
  • Intermediate level of skill using personal computer applications necessary to design and develop reports or systems as needed.
  • Advanced problem solving skills are needed to find solutions to problems that are technically complex and require collection, interpretation, and analysis of data from diverse sources is required.
  • Interpersonal skills are needed in order to supervise and lead others effectively as well as to interact with other members of management to resolved questions or problems.

SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.

Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.

Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.
