Job Description

The Department of Psychiatry Neurobiology is seeking a Research Technologist to gather HD mice for projects involving studying NLRP3-imflammasome pathway in Huntington's disease pathogenesis.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
  • Perform reagent ordering and management functions.
  • Ensure the laboratory is adequately supplied.
  • Facilitate cell culture, biochemistry, molecular biology, and gene editing.
  • With supervision, conduct molecular and cell biological work on Huntington's Disease.
  • Perform routine mouse colony management, tissue preparation, behavioral tests, and immunochemistry.
  • Participate in on-going research projects for mouse genotyping, oral gavage, behavioral testing, and pathology assessment.
  • Validate the NLRP3 pathway in HD human striatal neurons and help analyze the data from experiments.
  • Participate in projects related to other Huntington's disease pathogenic pathway and mechanism study.
  • Validate hits from previous screening in HD mouse model.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
  • Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Related work experience in mouse genotyping, behavioral testing, cell culture, biochemistry, molecular biology, gene editing.
  • Experience with molecular biology, biochemistry techniques, cell culture, and mouse genotyping are preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $15.50 - $26.00 HRLY ($43,160 targeted; Commensurate with experience)

Schedule: Mon to Fri, 8:30 am to 5 pm
