The University of New Mexico Bookstores is seeking an energetic and ambitious individual for the position Coordinator of Merchandise/Retail for multiple retail departments at our two locations. The Coordinator position manages the day-to-day operations for departments which include Customer Service and The Market primarily, though duties may cover other departments including Trade Books, Gift and Clothing, Technology, and Supplies.
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: overseeing daily retail floor customer service, store inventory acquisition including selection of incoming product and maintaining all ordering records, identifying and resolving customer and inventory issues, developing and executing sales floor merchandising plans, training and supervision of a team of 6 to 12 part time student employees, database and file maintenance, and coordination and execution of sales and marketing events in store, online, and across campus.
Serves as a liaison between the Central Campus Bookstore and North Campus Medical/Legal Bookstore. Will ensure all retail and customer service standards are consistent between both locations and may serve as the primary supervisor at the Medical/Legal Bookstore as needed.
Some evening and weekend shifts will be required.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
* Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
* Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
