POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions at Hamilton. The Assistant Controller will prepare financial statements, reconcile monthly accounts, maintain our ERP system as well as assist with audits.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Leads month-end closing activities, including reviewing account balances and reconciliations.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Reviews financial statements and preparing these statements for review by the Controller.
  • Manages daily accounting operations to ensure compliance with accounting principles.
  • Manages the Accounts Payable and the Accounts Receivable functions: responsible for timeliness of payments to vendors, and responsible for timeliness of collections from customers.
  • Responsible for managing the AP/AR team including but not limited to time off approvals, performance reviews, compensation reviews, and mentoring staff.
  • Supports tax return and distribution management by filing property taxes, spearheading sales tax process for all businesses, responds to data requests for corporate taxes and ensures compliance related tasks are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Acts as the subject matter expert in ERP-knowledge for the accounting team; builds on, develops and maintains this system.
  • Responsible for processing international payments while maintaining the proper level of internal control.
  • Provides guidance and training to the accounting staff as needed.
  • Contributes to special projects as assigned by the Controller and/or CFO including reporting on the analytics around freight billed vs. collected in real time.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Background and Skills Required:

  • B.S. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related business functions
  • 3+ years' experience working in accounting department on cost accounting, or experience in a manufacturing or distribution company
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience with BI and reporting tools; strong in data analysis and forecasting
  • ERP systems knowledge; Visual for Manufacturing preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of GAAP and regulations

Additional Background and Skills Preferred:

  • Understanding of Lean accounting principles
  • CPA or CMA Preferred
  • Master's degree in business administration or related field

  • Repetitive wrist motion, uses the computer up to 95% of the time
