Job Description

Network Specialist

The Network Specialist will support Aruba Switches, Routers, VPN, and other LAN/WAN technology and services in conjunction with DHA.

Location: Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC), North Chicago, IL 60064 (Great Lakes Naval Station) - onsite full-time

Clearance/Citizenship:

* Public Trust Tier-3 - obtainable upon offer

* Must be US Citizen

Education and Experience:

* (Preferred) Bachelor's degree

* 2 to 3+ years of experience

* Security+ CE (or appropriate DoDM 8570 Baseline Certification)

* IAT Level II certification is required before start

* Public Trust Clearance - Tier 3 - obtainable upon offer

Responsibilities:

* Design network infrastructure, recommended and install systems, hardware and software products.

* Develop security practices for recovering from disasters, data archiving and data backups.

* Provide implementation, integration, documentation and training.

* Ensure all computer stations are connected to the LAN/WAN.

* Utilize current and new technology, e.g. Application Performance Management (APM), to monitor, manage and resolve system downtime, upgrades, and any other planned disruption to the system.

* Provide Technical Support to clinicians with support staff that maintain clinical application.

* Perform systems and working file backups and restorations as required to protect the government from loss of systems and data.

* Provide sufficient data archive procedures to protect data from disasters.

* Manages the daily activities of configuration and operation of business systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server based.

Knowledge and Skills:

* Must have broad exposure to common I/T infrastructure networking in the areas of LAN, WAN, TCP/UDP, IPSec, VPN, Proxies, Routing(L2/L3), and Firewalls.

* Must be able to work as part of a team to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.

* Ability to communicate with executive leadership (internally or client) regarding matters of significant important to the organization/project.

* Must have experience in working with the following vender network technologies: Cisco, Juniper, and Aruba.

* Experienced and comfortable with conducting technical troubleshooting to resolve issues.

* Knowledge of LAN/WAN

* Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper/Aruba Routers and Switches

* Knowledge of Patch-Panels

* Knowledge of Rack-Elevations

* Knowledge of Enterprise Remote Access

* Knowledge of Fiber-Optics

* Knowledge of Wireless

* Knowledge of UPS Systems (Data Center, mini ups, and network ups)


Technical Knowledge

  • Experience in network routing and switching
  • Experience with troubleshooting LAN/WAN issues
  • Experience with ServiceNOW Ticketing/Global Service Center
  • Experience with patching & configuration (Remedies & Policies)

Travel Requirements:

  • This position will involve less than 10% travel
