Summary of Position

This role reports to the VP Targeted Therapeutics. This individual will be a key member of the team responsible for progressing the Company's antibody-based oncology product candidates through pre-clinical and early clinical development, achieving key program milestones and timeline goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads and supports advancement of molecules from lead to candidate nomination and IND and regulatory filings, collaborating with preclinical pharmacology and toxicology teams.
  • Proposes and validates novel targeted therapeutic strategies, leveraging antibody-based and antibody-drug conjugate-based platforms
  • Establishes and executes therapeutically relevant protein- and cell-based assays to screen and characterize candidate therapeutic molecules, to dissect mechanisms of action and explore potential combinatorial activity.
  • Drafts manuscripts and nonclinical sections of documents supporting regulatory submissions.
  • Champions external visibility for our science and technology through active participation in scientific meetings and symposia.
  • May manage the work of direct reports and/or dotted line reports, guiding experimental planning and troubleshooting, data interpretation and assembly

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Certifications & Experience

Scientist II

  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, immunology, cell biology or related field
  • Two years of experience as a scientist in the biotech, pharmaceutical, scientific research or related industries.

Scientist III

  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, immunology, cell biology or related field
  • Five years of experience as a scientist in the biotech, pharmaceutical, scientific research or related industries.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strategic and tactical thinker with success leading preclinical development programs
  • Strong molecular and cell biology background with knowledge and hands on technical expertise in the development and execution of protein- and cell-based assays to characterize mAb based therapeutics, including multi-specifics and antibody-drug conjugates
  • Capability to monitor and characterize antitumor and immune-modulatory activities of mAb based therapeutics through design, directing and executing ELISA, Luminex, flow cytometry, reporter, ELISpot-like and other immune effector-based assays.
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
  • Ability to perform critical data analysis and interpretation
  • An excellent scientific/clinical background as demonstrated through publications in scientific journals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Associate Scientist
  • Research Associate
  • Research Manager

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in the characterization and preclinical development of antibody-drug conjugates
  • Proficient in generation of scientific documentation to support submissions to regulatory agencies
  • Experience in managing and directing technical staff
