About Baxter's Cleveland, MS Facility:

Cleveland's technology and automation is cutting edge. It is the U.S. sole source for plastic pour bottles, glass IV, and various reconstitution devices. This facility produces a number of major product lines with a diverse array of automated manufacturing technologies ranging from bottle solution filling, injection molding, tubing extrusion, and device assembly.

This position is an engineering support role with exposure to all aspects of our manufacturing operation. Primary focus will be on assisting project/process/quality engineers in implementing continuous improvement, new business, and capacity expansion projects. Additional focus will also be on manufacturing equipment reliability and process support work.

As Baxter is manufacturer of life saving and life sustaining medical products all work performed will expose the engineering co-op to a federally regulated environment. Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation Practices are useful skills in any industry and are of the utmost importance in our industry.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide technical support/troubleshooting to all plant departments. Analyze equipment maintenance schedules and develop comprehensive spare parts packages with an emphasis on identifying supplier, cost, and lead time.

  • Design and specify modifications to manufacturing equipment or facility layouts.

  • Place orders for and ship or receive various project supplies.

  • Prepare documentation for performing work on major and or critical equipment as needed.

  • Create documentation changes to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Forms, Training Codes, etc.

  • Responsible for adhering to FDA Design Control standards at all times.

  • Responsible for adhering to and maintaining all department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Demonstrate excellent written communication skills.

  • Demonstrate proactive communication and problem solving.

  • Develop business acumen through interface with plant administrative support roles such as accounting, purchasing, capital and expense budget analysis, etc.

  • Support maintenance, facilities, corporate groups, contractors, vendors, etc. as needed.

  • Support Project and achieving Continuous Improvement Activities, Value Improvement Projects (VIP's).

  • Gain exposure to equipment and process life cycle management including: upgrades, replacement, and decommissioning, product design changes, material changes, Supplier Notice of Change (SNC) assessments, specification changes, etc.

  • Prepare cost analysis estimates (Return On Investments) for various tasks and projects.


What you'll bring:

  • Sophomore status in an accredited engineering field required. (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Chemical majors are preferred)

  • Microsoft Office proficient (Word, Excel)

  • Autocad/Solidworks experience is desirable.

  • Equipment programming/troubleshooting experience is desirable.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a pay rate of $20 to $22.00 an hour.
