Job Description

The Armstrong Institute is seeking a Research Program Coordinator who will participate in the development and implementation of an infection prevention national health services research project aimed at improving healthcare quality and patient safety. This individual will work as a member of the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety & Quality (AI). AI research activities are interdisciplinary and regularly include researchers and clinicians in the Bloomberg School of Public Health and School of Medicine at Johns Hopkins, and policy leaders, project leaders, and research administrators at a number of national and international contracting agencies.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct coordination tasks and activities for knowledge translation and quality improvement projects at the Armstrong Institute under the guidance of the Program Manager.
  • Develop and edit educational materials and tools, including presentations, scripts, manuals, and assessments.
  • Schedule project meetings and document meeting progress/action items.
  • Participate in development of procedures for research project administration and project goals.
  • Coordinate protocol implementation and handle administrative tasks for projects.
  • Assist with communication with internal and external partners for project coordination.
  • Assist with the presentation of webinars and other online sessions.
  • Monitor and manage records for project purpose.
  • Assist with regulatory submissions such as IRB applications under Program Manager supervision.
  • Participate in study meetings and provide updates on project status and operational issues.
  • All other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

  • Previous research experience.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
