Summary:

The Freedom Federal Credit Union Sr. Member Solutions Representative assist and coordinate the collections operation by performing a variety of investigative and other duties relating to the collection and maintenance of delinquent accounts, to include all legal, bankrupt, and charged off accounts. Inform management of activities and problems; assist in training, research, evaluation, and collection of accounts to include attorney and agency referrals. Utilize all available collection tools to contact members, encourage re-payment, document collection activity to include the charge-off portfolio, and maintain applicable records and reports. Complies with all federal, state, and organizational policies, procedures, and processes, including (but not limited to) the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Maintains confidentiality of current, past, and potential members and their personal and financial information.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a systematic process for identifying charge-off and delinquent accounts and respond with collection activity.
  • Review collection reports for status of collections and outstanding balances.
  • Collection of all credit union loans, negative shares, and charged-off accounts.
  • Locate members using all skip tracing tools available, such as member application, credit bureau, Internet, creditors, relatives, references, and other applicable sources.
  • Monitor payments received and follow up on payment arrangements with the members and/or attorneys.
  • Review and recommend action to take possession of collateral involved in delinquent loans.
  • Conduct evaluation of collateral and arrange for disposition.
  • Document and follow up on bankruptcy filings. Complete Proofs of Claims, Reaffirmations, and prepare documents needed for Lift of Stay requests as required.
  • Stay current with all provisions of the federal and state bankruptcy codes and regulations as well as repossession and collection laws.
  • Represent the credit union in court concerning legal processes connected with collection, bankruptcy, and other creditor/debtor situations.
  • Review and recommend to management to submit delinquent accounts to attorney or outside agency for collection.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory permissions and restrictions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Required Experience

  • High School Diploma required
  • 4 years of relevant experience required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Bankruptcy laws, practices, and procedures

Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations, and explanations with members, direct and indirect reports, and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating, and/or advising others on matters of significance.
