Do you enjoy leading interdisciplinary research teams that are analyzing large-scale neuroscience datasets?

We are seeking a Senior Connectomics Researcher to contribute to and lead analysis of large-scale structural and functional neuroscience datasets to improve our understanding of function and pathology in the nervous system. We are a large collaborative and multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists engaged in groundbreaking research for the nation spanning neuroengineering, artificial intelligence, robotics, and complex systems.

As a Senior Connectomics Researcher...

  • Your primary role will be supporting and advancing existing efforts in neuroscience, including analysis, processing, and management of large-scale neuroscience datasets, including connectomes, collected from a variety of systems, modalities, and species.
  • You will develop novel insights for neurological health and information processing in the nervous system.
  • You will develop of novel algorithms and analysis approaches for neuroscience datasets.
  • You will communicate key findings both internally across teams and externally to sponsors, and will play a major role in research proposal development.
  • You will participate in the neuroscience and APL community, and present data at Lab meetings and to department management.
  • You will participate in collaboration and innovation opportunities to help ensure the success of APL's mission.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Hold a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Neurobiology, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related subject areas.
  • Have 1+ year experience defining and addressing research problems involving large structural and/or functional neuroscience data.
  • Demonstrate excellent research and oral communication skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of collaborators.
  • Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have experience generating and/or processing large-scale (greater than one petabyte) neuroscience datasets.
  • Have familiarity with the data and/or biology of different species (e.g., worm, fly, mouse, human) or aspects of common acquisition and analysis pipelines.
