HDR Engineering is seeking an entry level Bridge Engineer to join our team in Missoula, MT. The Bridge EIT will perform assignments under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer in support of bridge design projects.

Primary Responsibilities

In this role, we'll count on you to perform engineering design under the direction of a Professional Engineer for retaining walls, highway bridges, pedestrian bridges, railroad bridges, and other structural features of transportation projects. Specifically, assignments may include:

* Conduct analyses and perform calculations to develop design options and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications for structural engineering projects.

* Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.

* Work independently on small projects or assist more senior engineers on larger projects.

* Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed.

* Assist with bridge inspections or assist in the review of bridge construction.

* Perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field

* Experience with MS Office, MathCAD, AutoCAD or Microstation, and Finite ElemenAnalysis software

* Strong understanding of structural analysis and mechanics of materials.

* Strong understanding of reinforced concrete and structural steel design.

* Good communication skills and willing to work in a team environment.

* An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree in Structural Engineering.

* EIT or ability to obtain within 12 months. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of Bridge Designer and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.

* Familiarity with engineering software packages such as: MathCad, LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, MIDAS Civil, MDX, SAP2000, LARSA, CSiBridge, ADINA, RM Bridge, spColumn, LUSAS, Visual Analysis.

* Experience or training in bridge/structural design.

* Strong preference given to local candidates.

The expected compensation range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles are eligible for limited benefits.)
