Manages, coordinates, and evaluates all elements of nursing research/research utilization quality improvement projects and evidence-based practice programs, in accordance with ANCC Magnet Recognition designation for the organization. Promotes and facilitates evidence-based interventions at the bedside to improve nurse sensitive indicators. Fosters an institutional environment conducive to the conduct of inquiry, research, and evidence-based practice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) or related field required. If Master's Degree is in related field, BSN required.

2. Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Registered Professional Nurses, or appropriate state board where services will be provided, as a registered professional nurseORCurrent multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

EXPERIENCE:

1. Five (5) years nursing experience with at least one year of nurse faculty and/or research experience.

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.Certification in Clinical Research or specialty.

2. DNP or PhD preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Ten (10) years nursing experience with at least three years in a nursing faculty, management, or administrative position.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Leads research studies and contributes to the healthcare knowledge base.

2. Assists in the development and implementation of nursing wide research and developmental programs.

3. Oversees the Nursing Research / Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Council.

4. Serves as a role model and consultant related to the nursing research process and coordinates the IRB approval and grant funding process for nursing research.

5. Coordinates identification, monitoring, and improvement of nursing sensitive indicators through benchmarking.

6. Utilizes nursing quality data to improve professional practice outcomes.

7. Identifies nursing unit quality metric outliers and creates evidence-based nursing interventions for improvement.

8. Supports hospital efforts to improve quality care, linking research to improved patient outcomes.

9. Collects and analyzes patient data including patient satisfaction and quality data.

10. Collects and analyzes nurse satisfaction data and identifies trends and plans for improvement.

11. Maintains effective communication with other departments within the organization as necessary regarding professional nursing practice, nursing research program, and ANCC MagnetO Recognition Program in accordance with the hospital's mission and vision.

12. Maintains a database of ongoing research studies and evidence-based practice projects (pertaining to nursing practice) that are based on committee data or other sources of clinical nursing data and information.

13. Coordinates Nursing Research / Evidence-Based Practice Program, providing guidance to departmental research utilization teams, consultation with presentations and publications, and assistance with data interpretation and analysis.

14. Participates in the ANCC Transition to Practice program including program planning, implementation, and evaluation, including interim reports, redesignation reports, consultation visits, and redesignation site visit.

15. Participates in various activities to assist the Manager in the dissemination of necessary information to staff, physicians, and others related to professional nursing practice, nursing research, and evidenced based practice.

16. Fosters a culture of inquiry to bridge the gap between research and practice by engaging nurses in research and EBP.

17. Promotes, supports, and facilitates individuals engaging in research activities to advance research in practice: evidence-based practice, the conduct of research, research utilization, and research dissemination.

18. Institute structures and expectations to support dissemination of nursing research and evidence-based practice projects locally, regionally, and nationally.

19. Performs other duties/projects as assigned.
