General Summary of Position


Job Summary:

MedStar Health is looking for a Multiskilled Radiology Technologist I to join our team!

As a Multiskilled Radiology Technologist I, you will conduct various radiographic examinations for a physician to diagnose and treat patient conditions. Technical procedures are performed that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Both computer programmed and manual equipment is used during technique selection and imaging. Responsibility is assumed for designated areas or procedures as required. Operates radiological equipment to produce clinical diagnostic x-ray images as directed by physicians and performs routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices. Requires ARRT Radiography registration and state licensure. The Multi-skilled Radiology Technologist Lead shall additionally provide leadership and guidance to the Radiology department associates and possesses and demonstrates appropriate knowledge and technique to provide appropriate clinical care to the specific patient population.

Primary Duties:

  • Maintains and demonstrates thorough understanding and clinical competency for all exams and equipment of multiple modalities. Follows departmental imaging standards by performing high quality imaging of the anatomic areas requested by the ordering physician in a safe and effective manner, including properly labeling images, explaining the exam to patients, and obtaining pertinent clinical information by the Radiologists, history, and consent for procedure.

  • Properly identifies patients (Name & DOB). Maintains HIPPA compliance. Possesses and demonstrates adequate knowledge to provide Radiological services appropriate to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Performs examination completion in RIS and PACS ensuring all images are processed, archived, and available to the Radiologist for interpretation and maintains department document standards within all electronic systems.

  • Responsible for maintenance and care of departmental facilities in compliance with all hospital infection control policies. All treatment rooms/areas are cleaned and stocked. Provides the utmost attention to the individual medical needs, dignity, and comfort of all patients in support of the established mission and values.

  • Implements staffing schedule and responds to daily staffing of department or clinic needs. Coordinates quality management activities including QA projects. Provides staff orientation, mentoring, and training to new department employees. Coordinates and reports on customer satisfaction projects and activities. Completes performance appraisals of department employees in conjunction with Director. Initiates corrective action, as needed, to department employees up to, and including, written warnings with Director.

  • Responsible for tracking department specific volume, regulatory audits, and staff productivity. Responsible for department specific coding, billing, and revenue management with the department Director. Works with senior management to prepare budgets and ensures operations are aligned with organizational objectives and meets performance and budget objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.

  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Registry, or NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board).

  • ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) - status maintained by fulfilling education/registry requirements in one or more of the following registries: MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), CT (Computed Tomography), Mammography, Cardiac-Interventional Radiography, Vascular Interventional Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Bone Densitometry, Quality Management, or Sonography.

  • CHCQM - Certified Healthcare Quality Management certification by the Maryland Board of Physician Quality Assurance.

  • Active Maryland state licensure.

  • CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation).

  • 3-4 years' experience in the registry post-primary pathway certification preferred.
