MedStar Medical Group Anesthesiology (d/b/a MedStar Medical Group) has an opening for an Anesthesiologist to join our team!

Job Duties: Perform clinical and patient care duties in a prompt and professional manner consistent with professional clinical and ethical standards applicable to the geographic area in which the services are provided and consistent with high quality of card standards. Adhere to appropriate safety precautions to minimize risks of fire, explosion, electrical shock and equipment malfunction. Inspect the anesthesia machine and monitor for readiness, availability, cleanliness and working conditions. Comply with all bylaws, rules and regulations, policies and directives of the medical staff of the facilities served. Comply with governmental and accreditation regulations. Develop and implement an age-appropriate and culturally sensitive anesthetic plan. Discharge patients from a post-anesthesia care area and provide post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care. Interpret and utilize hemodynamic and laboratory data to maintain the patient physiologic homeostasis and correct abnormal responses to the anesthesia or surgery. Manage a patient's airway and pulmonary status using current practice modalities. Manage emergence and recovery from anesthesia by selecting, obtaining, ordering, and administering medications, fluids and ventilatory support in order to maintain homeostasis, to provide relief from pain and anesthesia side effects, and to prevent or manage complications. Order, initiate, and modify pain relief therapy, through the utilization of drugs, regional anesthetic techniques or other accepted pain relief modalities. Participate in performance improvement activities and collect/analyze clinical and service data demonstrating outcomes of care. Participate in the anesthesia care team model for all professional services. Participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participate in the clinical and didactic education of trainees from multiple disciplines. Perform and document pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient, including requesting consultations and diagnostic studies; selecting, obtaining, ordering, or administering pre-anesthetic medications and fluids, and obtain informed consent for anesthesia. Record all pertinent events taking place during the induction of, maintenance of and emergence from anesthesia, including the dosage and duration of all anesthetic agents, other drugs, intravenous fluids and blood or blood components on all patients that have received anesthesia care. Record post-anesthetic visits, including at least one note describing the presence or absence of anesthesia related complications. Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency fluids and drugs, and using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques. Select and initiate the planned anesthetic technique which may include: general, regional, local anesthesia, and intravenous sedation. Select, apply, or insert appropriate noninvasive and invasive monitoring modalities. Select, obtain, and administer the anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, and fluids necessary to manage the anesthetic. Oversee nurse anesthetists in anesthetizing locations, as needed. Accurately complete within two (2) days of the date of performance of any anesthesia services all forms and/or computer entries required by the company to enable it to bill for the anesthesia services. Comply with government and accreditation regulations.
