General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is seeking a PRN Echo Tech available to work 3-8 hour shifts per week to work in an Ambulatory Office.

As a Cardiac Sonographer, you will perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasounds on patients to assure high-quality care and service to patients.

Primary Duties
:

  • Activelyparticipatesin quality assurance program by completing all accrediting body requirements tomaintainlab certification.Ensures equipment and supplies are available by coordinating preventive maintenance programs, scheduling emergency service calls, and ordering necessary supplies tomaintainan efficient patient schedule.
  • Assistsin coordinating patient care with clinical staff by reviewing the patient schedule at the beginning of each day to ensureappropriate supportis available at the appointed times.Maintains log of patient data and stored images by entering correct patient demographic information and archiving studies to ensure complete andaccuraterecords aremaintained.Sends diagnostic reports or study copies whenrequiredto ensuretimelycommunication of patient data.
  • Performs diagnostic ultrasound studies on patients including M-mode and two-dimensional and stress echocardiograms by following ICAEL guidelines to ensure high-quality diagnostic studies are performed. Prepares preliminary diagnostic reports by compiling relevant measurements and data toprovidea summary report for physician review, interpretation, and signature.
  • Providespatient instructions and answers questions relating to scheduled procedurestoproperly educate and orientpatients. Recognizesand alerts physicians to abnormal studies byimmediatelycontacting physicians to discuss andassistwithappropriate nextsteps.

Qualifications:

  • Associate'sdegree with a concentration in computer science, or one to three years formaljob-relatedtraining.
  • 5-7years' experiencepost-graduation in echo cardiology.
  • RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer)Adult Echocardiography - ARDMS-AE.
  • CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation).
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
