We are seeking talented and motivated early career staff to join the Discovery Program, APL's two-year technical rotation program. The Discovery Program offers a unique opportunity for recent graduates to gain valuable experience in multiple technical areas within APL. In the Discovery Program, you will have the opportunity to hone your skills and explore your interests. You will apply innovative solutions to challenges of national importance, collaborate with experts and other early career professionals, and develop a strong foundation for your career.

As a member of the Discovery Program, you will...

  • Apply your technical skills to meet unique mission needs in your technical rotations.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to drive impact.
  • Grow your technical and professional skills through targeted training courses, experiences, and events.
  • Explore, propose, and refine your novel ideas through the Innovation Ecosystem.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a PhD in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, mathematics), including but not limited to Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, or Physics.
  • Have strong technical experience as proven in at least one internship, research experience, or project outside of the classroom.
  • Thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Are able to acquire an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately acquire a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
