Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree (Required) X and Completion of at least one year of a master's program in art therapy. (required)

Minimum Work Experience- Experience providing art therapy services to children, adolescents, young adults and
adults. Experience working with patients facing life threatening or complex illnesses
and/or their family members preferred. (preferred)

Functional Accountabilities
Art Therapy Services
- Meet patients, siblings and their family members to explain the summer art therapy program and to invite participation.
- Participate in education of out-patient clinic staff re: summer art therapy program objectives.
- Participate in maintaining an age-appropriate and safe selection of art supplies and other materials needed for the program.
Planning and Execution
- Develop a vision and set goals and priorities for the summer art therapy program.
- Assess art therapy needs of out-patients and their family members (with particular emphasis on siblings).
- Develop plan for art therapy interventions for individuals and groups as appropriate.
- Evaluate efficacy and amends art therapy interventions as needed.
- Document art therapy interventions and significant statistical information as needed.
Coordination
- Participate as active member of the Patient Support Services team to integrate art therapy services with other psychosocial programs
- Participate actively in departmental and psychosocial rounds to ensure coordinated, informed care for patients and families
- Collaborate with relevant staff members to address patient or systemic problems that arise
Program Development
- Work with Public Relations and Marketing and other hospital departments to promote program/services internally and externally as appropriate.
- Assist with activities to fund and grow the program (e.g., grant-writing, fund-raising).
- Participate in psychosocial research projects relevant to art therapy interventions for patients and their families when appropriate.
Professional Environment
- Meet with supervisor and art therapy team members as needed to discuss areas of concern and program development.
- Complete all hospital and departmental annual requirements in a timely manner.
- Practice in accordance with the Ethical Standards of the American Art Therapy Association.
