ORAU has a job opportunity for a Laboratory Technician. This position will support of the overall functions of the Research Technologies Branch (RTB), Rockville, MD. The position is contingent on award of an upcoming contract with NIAID Professional, Scientific and Technical Support Services. Salary for positions will be determined based on education and experience. Relocation support is not available for this position.

Perform laboratory techniques relating toscientific research, prepare samples andequipment for use.
Perform experiments in protein identification, separation, purification, biophysical analysis, and bacterial culture identification.
Contribute to the protein ID projects underway in the Protein Chemistry Section (PCS).
Work with samples from bacterial cultures and inactivated proteins from a variety of biological sources.
Perform samplemanagement and storage.
Analyze,document and report on all proceduresperformed.
Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies.

o BS/BA degree in biology or related discipline.
o Minimum of two (2) years of work experience.
o Knowledge of basic biochemical laboratory techniques is required.
o Basic understanding of protein and peptide chemistry is required.
o Experience with mass spectrometry including MALDI.
