HDR is seeking a Senior Cultural Resources Specialist with experience in maritime and terrestrial archaeology in the Northeast Region. This position will be responsible for assisting with consultation and compliance projects to support clients across several business sectors, including power and transportation. The successful candidate must have an excellent understanding of the National Historic Preservation Act (including Section 106 and Section 110), the National Environmental Policy Act, and other federal cultural resources legislation, as well as guidance related to underwater cultural resources studies. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years' experience serving as a Principal Investigator, meet the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards for Archaeology, be a Registered Professional Archaeologist, and meet the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management's criteria for a Qualified Maritime Archaeologist.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Providing cultural resource compliance support for a wide range of private and public clients
• Leading the development and growth of HDR's Cultural Resources Practice in the Northeast and New England
• Providing support for preparation of the cultural resources components of environmental permits, documents, and reports including writing, drafting, editing, and revising
• Assisting with archaeological (terrestrial and maritime) aspects of environmental impact analyses, feasibility, and due diligence studies
• Applying knowledge of cultural resource management principles to research, data collection and compilation, and evaluation
• Providing oversight services to clients and HDR for cultural resources subcontractors
• Providing expertise on tribal and public outreach
• Providing strategic planning and guidance to HDR's clients regarding the implementation of Section 106
• Developing study plans, management plans, study reports, programmatic agreements, memoranda of agreement
• Leading consultation with State Historic Preservation Officers, Tribal Historic Preservation Officers, the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, and other consulting parties
• Identifying, evaluating, and resolving adverse effects on historic properties
• Supporting project managers/directors and business development efforts.

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Anthropology or Archaeology
• 10+ years of experience including experience in environmental consulting, business development, and managing budgets and staff
• Experience as a Principal Investigator including coordinating cultural resources field investigations with federal and state compliance and maritime cultural resource management projects
• Registered Professional Archaeologist and Secretary of Interior Qualified
• Demonstrated expertise as a Qualified Maritime Archaeologist
• Preferred experience includes coordinating projects involving Section 106 and NEPA and numerous consulting parties (ACHP, SHPO, and tribes); historic architectural training; public outreach; and processing subsea geophysical data (e.g., side-scan sonar, magnetometer, sub-bottom profiler)
• Excellent verbal communication, technical writing, and research skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to travel to support business needs
