The Research Assistant Position in the Saladi lab and the overall responsibilities involve helping in the head and neck cancer research project.

Specific Job Responsibilities

  1. Perform molecular biology experiments including PCR, western blotting
  2. Maintain and grow cell lines
  3. Organize and maintain biorepository databases as tumor specimens are collected or used, including maintaining an inventory database.
  4. Processes and stores tumor specimens for future molecular analyses following standard protocols.
  5. Oversees maintenance of -80 freezer for long-term storage of blood specimens. This involves on call responsibilities in the event of after hour freezer failures.
  6. Performs administrative duties such as ordering and maintaining equipment, supplies inventory, and other materials used for the research repository.
  7. Participates in appropriate training for research projects.
Qualifications

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Position requires a bachelor's degree, preferably in the biological or physical sciences. Knowledge of graphics, spreadsheets and other software packages (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) helpful along with basic molecular biology techniques including PCR, Western blotting isolation of plasmids and some experience in cell culture.

Individual must possess strong quantitative, organizational, and communication (verbal and written) skills. Must have the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple job tasks, to complete responsibilities within timelines, and to work independently as well as part of a team.
