Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Senior Designer, we'll count on you to:

* Develop innovative, creative, integrated and effective design solutions, with an ability to become an integral part of design teams, and guide concept and ideas from pursuit and selection through successful project completion
* Have a vision, a positive attitude and team-building skills in spearheading design at HDR, and effectively partner with other marketing and operation leaders
* Understand code and cost implications of design decisions to ensure that design proposals are viable and compliant with project goals
* Independently coordinate design with the multidiscipline project team through multiple phases of a project
* Conduct internal design/work sessions in conjunction with the Project Manager, coordinating with work of other disciplines
* Coordinate workload of team members through multiple phases to complete design deliverables on schedule
* Be involved in local and regional professional design-related organizations
* Provide construction contract administration assistance as needed to maintain design intent through construction
* Direct the activities of other junior designers and mentor other staff members as needed
* Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Architecture

* Registered Architect
* 5+ years of experience
* Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule)
* Excellent written and communication skills
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Proficient in use of Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and process
* Demonstrated graphic presentation skills
* Experience in preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications
* Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree in Architecture
* 10+ years of project leadership experience in a variety of project types
* Experience in the areas of healthcare, educational, civic, science and research facilities
* Interest in sustainable design/LEED strongly desired
* Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Rhino, Grasshopper, SketchUp, 3-D Studio Max, and other appropriate modeling and graphics programs
