Washington College is seeking qualified applicants for a Full-Time Cook. This position prepares, presents, and serves food as needed. Positions involved that fall under this job title include but are not limited to Prep Cook, Baker, Grill Cook, and Cook.

Essential Functions:

  • Obtains daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the Chef
  • Operates and cleans equipment per department procedures after each use
  • Completes all required documentation, reports, and logs as required
  • Complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures
  • Takes orders from customer and prepare items requiring short preparation time
  • Serves customers in an efficient and friendly manner; resolves customer concerns
  • Utilizes approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures, and standard portion control
  • Prep work including washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding vegetables and fruits along with weighing and measuring designated ingredients
  • Responsible for using commercial and non-commercial kitchen equipment, which includes slicers, mixers, steamers, ovens, stoves, kettles, and other equipment needed to complete tasks
  • Properly stores foods in designated areas following wrapping, dating, and food safety and rotation procedures
  • Assists with catering and other special events in preparation, service, and clean up
  • Assures compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements
  • Assist with daily and weekly cleaning of the dining service areas of operation so that it meets operating standards
  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned

Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess basic math ability and the ability to multi-task. Schedule may include days, nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
