RT&T, a joint venture of InDyne, Inc. and Amentum Services, Inc. is the prime contractor to support the Atlantic Range Technical Support Services (ARTSS) for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) headquartered in Patuxent River, MD, and with locations in Maryland, Virginia, and California.

ARTSS supports Atlantic Test Ranges (ATR) and Atlantic Targets and Marine Operations (ATMO) in research and development, engineering, maintenance, operation, support of facilities, systems, and equipment in order to meet the engineering development and operational testing and fleet training missions for some of the world's premier systems. Our work with the U.S. Navy keeps the warfighter safe by testing systems before they are used in combat, and we are hiring personnel to support this important mission.

Background Information:

The Patuxent River Infrared Signature Measurement (PRISM) group is a fully autonomous, field deployable measurement team focused on the collection and analysis of Ultraviolet/Infrared (UV/IR) signature data from static to dynamic flight tests. To accomplish this, state-of-the-art imagers and spectrometers are utilized to collect and analyze radiometric signature measurements for DoD programs of record. We work hand in hand with a variety of engineering disciplines to develop methods for testing and collecting radiometric signature data of DoD assets under test.

Our technicians work in various environments including highly specialized labs, indoor and outdoor test and measurement ranges, and operational locations.

Our team is critical to the success of DoD programs, aircraft survivability, and the warfighter at large. Your role on our team would be equally critical to our success as an organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, calibrate, and operate test equipment, including Military radios (URC-200), volt meters, oscilloscopes, Kineto Tracking Mount, and various digital equipment
  • Set-up, calibrate, survey, and pretest mission support equipment and participate in test operations
  • Maintain, repair, inspect, and troubleshoot government-owned equipment and components installed in an operational 53 foot trailer
  • Plan, participate, and coordinate test and evaluations on systems, equipment, or components
  • Interpret wiring diagrams and construct specialized cabling based on varying project requirements
  • Operate and maintain stationary generators
  • Work overtime when needed
  • Travel for mission support (5%-25%)

Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent GED
  • Engineering/Electronics Technician AA/AS degree or related curriculum from an accredited college or university or successful completion of technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school or successful completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of courses from an accredited college
  • To be considered at the Tech V level: A minimum of 10 years of work experience performing the stated function. A minimum of 2 years of experience implementing and managing quality control processes and performing workmanship inspections of products and services. A minimum of 8 years of experience wiring electrical components such as data acquisition units, fabrication of wire harnesses, or soldering of PC boards and other components.
  • To be considered at the Tech VI level: A minimum of 12 years of work experience performing the stated or similar function. A minimum of 4 years of experience implementing and managing quality control processes and performing workmanship inspections of products and services. A minimum of 10 years of experience wiring electrical components such as data acquisition units, fabrication of wire harnesses, or soldering of PC boards and other components.
  • Possess detailed knowledge of E/O Electro-optic infrared sensors and software needed to integrate, calibrate, acquire, process and analyze infrared imagery and spectral data.
  • Familiarity with specific software suite for camera acquisition and control (i.e. rTools, rCal)
  • Skilled in operation and troubleshooting of cryogenic imaging systems. This includes re-vacuuming cryogenic dewars and changing internal optical filters depending on infrared bands needed for testing.
  • Performing spectral response measurements on optical filters to check atmospheric absorption using an Optronics Laboratories OL-750-S Spectroradiometer
  • Knowledge of techniques and theories in electronics, infrared systems, algebra, elementary physics, computer design software
  • Experience in instrumentation, measurement, data collection, interpreting drawings, and record keeping
  • Functional understanding of optical phenomenology, atmospheric transmission and scattering, radiometry, and semi-classical optical detector theory
  • Experience with the test, characterization, and calibration of Focal Plane Arrays
  • Operation of Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometers and UV/IR imagers for the collection and analysis of UV/IR aircraft signature data, resulting in high confidence reports addressing problems of interest
  • Basic electrical/electronic theory, practice, and repair experience is a plus
  • Mapping, surveying, and GPS navigation skills desired
  • Must have good communication skills, solid team leadership skills, and be able to interact in a professional manner with customers
  • Must be flexible and team oriented

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a United States Department of Defense Top Secret Clearance

Work Conditions:

Conditions will vary. Most work performed in enclosed buildings, but some outside work may be required. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching. Applicant should be capable of lifting 50-100 lbs. assisted by other employees. Vision abilities needed to perform this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
