Position Overview:

The primary focus of this role will be to technically lead staff, provide QAQC and perform business development and marketing for the Structural department nationally. This role is leadership-based; motivation and ambition are important attributes to this role. We are looking for a candidate to provide leadership for the Department in approximate percentage of their time:

  • 40% Technical
  • 15% Operational (Staffing & Mentorship)
  • 20% Project Management & Financial Management
  • 25% Business Development

Project types include Healthcare, Federal, Justice, K-12, Higher Education, Corporate Commercial, Pharmacy, Retail, Multifamily & Assisted Living, Hospitality, Cultural & Historic, Data Centers, Industrial, Residential, and Military/DoD facilities and bases.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Market and develop business regionally for the Structural department.
  • Manage daily activities within the office.
  • Technically lead the staff and development thereof.
  • Perform QAQC on projects.
  • Mentor other engineers within the Structural department.
  • Design complicated and various types of structural systems within the respective markets listed above.
  • Assist field staff, General Contractors, Architects, and Engineers to ensure compliance with specifications and design during construction.
  • Supplement and support several efforts within other departments and other business lines.
  • Perform a variety of complicated tasks and critical thinking.
  • Create and evolve system designs from concept to final construction document phase.
  • Perform analyses and apply problem solving techniques in order to develop creative, innovative solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent. Masters Degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
  • An active and good standing Professional Engineering License.
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in structural design.
  • Successful past experience with business development and account management.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to review, understand, and apply local, state and federal codes and standards related to the design and construction of project facilities.
  • Must be able to follow and properly apply market specific guidelines, the practices and policies of the associated local and building codes, discipline, divisions and firm.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and design independently with minimal supervision on projects from the beginning to the end.
  • Ability to manage deadline-driven workload and work on multiple projects.
