Job Description

JRAD is seeking candidates for an immediate fill Systems Engineer position supporting the Joint Project Manager for CBRN Sensors (JPM CBRN S). This is currently a hybrid position with the candidate expected to work on-site at Edgewood, MD 1-2 days per week.


Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Provide systems engineering analysis and technical expertise to the Product Manager for the Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle Sensor Suite Upgrade(NBCRV SSU) program, the functional support staff, and integrated product teams (IPTs).
  • Facilitate the conduct of systems engineering technical processes, per the Defense Acquisition Guidebook (DAG), including requirements analysis and flow down, associated development of and updates to Performance Specifications (PSpecs) and architectures, assessment of vendor allocated baselines, conducting systems engineering trade studies, maintaining traceability of requirements using Requirements Traceability & Verification Matrices, providing value-added recommendations for the program technical strategy and incorporating them into the System Engineering Plan (SEP).
  • Provide input to leadership (i.e., PM and lead test engineer) and prepare command-level briefings that include:
    • Identifying and defining required tests
    • Monitoring test coverage
    • Evaluating overall quality experienced
    • Specifying the required test data
    • Evaluating the outcome of the testing conducted in each test cycle and include in
    • requirements traceability matrix
  • Support the performance of Human Systems Integration (HSI), systems safety, and Environmental Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) activities in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction (DODI) 5000.02, Army Regulation (AR) 602-2, Military Standard (MIL-STD)-882E and applicable law.
  • Maintain consideration of diverse functional area and stakeholder needs while directly facilitating the planning, conduct, and documentation of technical reviews (e.g., technical review action plans based on Department of Defense (DoD) checklists, etc.).
  • Schedule, develop, review, and coordinate the review of all acquisition documents required for the program (e.g., Life Cycle Management Plan (LCMP), Systems Acquisition Management Plan (SAMP), Test and Evaluation Strategy (TES), Test and Evaluation Plan (TEMP), e.g., requirements documents, CONOPS, SOPs, test plans, MOAs, MOUs, ECPs, CMPs, etc.).
  • Lead SE IPTs and working groups, draft reporting requirements for tech data packages, coordinate programmatic schedules, and provide strategic planning necessary for major milestone acquisition programs.
  • Coordinate, support, execute and attend training, soldier touch point events, test, and fielding events.
  • Support transition of system architecture into Digital Engineering format which may include Model Based System Engineering


Required Skills and Education:

  • Standard Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Engineering or Engineering Management, or a related discipline, as well as eight (8) years of general work history, (3) of which are position-relevant (engineering/acquisitions)
  • Tradeoff Requirement: Associate's degree or professional certificate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Engineering or Engineering Management, or a related discipline, as well as ten (10) years of general work history, (5) of which are position- relevant (engineering/acquisitions)
  • Experience in MS Office Suite, including MS Project
  • Experience in chemical, biological radiological, and nuclear defense (CBRND)
  • Experience in the defense acquisition process for a program office preferred


Security Clearance:

  • Ability to receive and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
