The Director, Global Program Management (GPM) Data Sciences will plan, monitor, and assist in managing risk for Novavax's rapidly expanding vaccine development programs.

Essential Functions

• Participates in strategic planning and objectives for the GPM portfolio, program and projects

• Cascade functional strategy to specific GPM Data Sciences goals (specific to this niche, not at department level)

• Translating strategy into plan and action for GPM Data Sciences

• Partners with Senior Leadership, members of the Project team and its sub-teams to plan, schedule, and monitor the execution of project activities for vaccine development

• Independently address key program risks by managing ad hoc teams to develop solutions for decision by Senior Leadership.

• Directing and leading activities within GPM functional area and Data Sciences department as required

• Implement project management best practices to ensure on-time completion of milestones in fulfillment of corporate objectives

• Apply advanced project management tools and techniques for issue and risk management: identification, mitigation, and escalation through the established project governance model.

• Own and manage the project plan and schedule, interact regularly with the project team to status project activities and facilitate meetings and project team discussions.

• Prepare project reports to internal and external stakeholders using established templates and processes; in particular, ensure submission of key deliverables to external funding organizations.

• Be a team player in promoting a culture of project excellence by applying best practices and standards in project management, and serve as a resource to other functional areas

• Ad hoc staff augmentation, flexible and nimble to meet various team needs

• Deliver expert advice and support on advanced MS Project functionality and features

• Offers insights into best practices for MS Project usage in a professional setting

• Execute other duties as assigned to ensure programmatic success

• Manage Project Center activities and plans to ensure accuracy and consistency

• Resolve and trouble shoot multi-disciplinary IPP issues on-demand and at need

• Review and archive IPPs when they are no longer relative to ongoing programs and goals

• Proficient in managing the backup system FluentPro to protect against data loss

• Skilled in Master Link usage, functionality and complexities

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience in building and maintaining and troubleshooting project plans using Microsoft Project and Project Center is required

• Candidate must be comfortable working independently on high-performing cross-functional teams and have an ability to engage and motivate teams to address mission-critical problems.

• Ability to establish collaborative working relationships across organizational disciplines, and throughout the organizational hierarchy

• Expert level MSProject, Master Link, Power Bi, Adwise and Fluent Pro competencies are required, along with MSOffice suite

• Solid written and oral communication skills and the ability to distill complicated issues into concise communications for senior leadership and external stakeholders.

• Must enjoy a dynamic, fast-paced environment, operating independently and as part of a team, and be fully dedicated to customer support.

Education, Experience, Licenses & Certifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; degree in biological or chemical sciences preferred; Post-graduate degree, preferably an MBA;

• PMP certification required

• Minimum of 12 years of project management experience in the biotech and pharma industries; experience managing vaccine development programs is required

• 12 plus years' experience with Microsoft (MS) Project
