JOB SUMMARY: The Job Coach is responsible for providing job coaching and follow-up supports to participants referred through the Department of Disability Services (DDS) and DC Rehabilitation Services Administration. The Job Coach provides extensive support at the job site and in the community to include providing all required supports to enhance the participant's achievement of their Individual Support Plan (ISP goals).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides some case management/wrap-around supportive services to program participants with consistent and timely follow-up to identify barriers and challenges and assist the participants in the accomplishments of identified goals.
  • Accompanies the participant to the job site and provides on the job supports and follow-up activities in a timely, consistent manner to support successful employment outcomes for the program participants.
  • Trains the participant(s) in job duties expected to be performed; assists in total, any tasks the participant(s) cannot complete to the employer's satisfaction.
  • Ensures the participant(s) follow the employer's established work schedule and rules and procedures. Actively engage participant(s) in job related tasks that can be performed during idle downtown during work hours.
  • Develops and maintains a good rapport with employers. Serve as a liaison between participant(s) and employers. Gauge the needs of the employer and ensure participant(s) has a clear understanding of what is expected. Assist with clarification and problem resolution as needed.
  • Maintains all appropriate documentation on participant's program participation, job development, placement, and follow-up activities in the form of weekly data collection and quarterly reports.
  • Safely transports participants in authorized Agency vehicles from the Program to the job site and/or various employment related events/opportunities within the community and back as scheduled.
  • Ensures adherence to all agency, program, and DDS policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates with the Sr. Program Manager daily regarding assignments for the next day.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Have a high school diploma or GED. Verification of Foreign Equivalency Required.
  • Six (6) months of work experience specific to disabilities, with knowledge of case management in the field of rehabilitation.
  • Valid local Driver's License and clean driving record required.

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
