Holton Arms School seeks an Upper School Math Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teach Upper School classes that could range from Geometry to Calculus/Statistics
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with students and parents
  • Work collaboratively with other math teachers in the department, division colleagues, and administrators
  • Provide extra math support outside of class time, as needed, during the school day
  • Serve as an advisor, facilitating weekly meetings to promote student well-being
  • Attend regular meetings, including in-house professional development
  • Commitment to academic excellence and supporting our Global Education and Diversity institutional priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful applicant will have demonstrated the following experience and abilities:
  • Knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment with the ability to implement quality, inclusive teaching, and learning programs while sustaining a culture of access and equity in Math
  • Depth of knowledge in mathematical problem solving, reasoning and proof, mathematical communication, and effective use of technology. A passion for developing a deep conceptual understanding of mathematical concepts, as well as student application of concepts learned
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, parents, staff, and colleagues
  • Capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning, assessment, and classroom management practices. Experience teaching with Illustrative Mathematics resources is a plus
  • Ability to design units around the school calendar and maintain an organized course page on Canvas
  • Ability to collaborate closely with course-level team members to ensure a similar experience for the students, including planning and the writing of common assessments
  • Desire to pursue ongoing professional development, making the most of the opportunities both within and outside the school to improve teaching and to demonstrate to the girls the value of lifelong learning.
  • High levels of enthusiasm for teaching and learning, striving to engender a joy of learning in all students
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Education or Mathematics, with a graduate degree, preferred
  • Experience teaching at the upper school level, preferably at an all-girls school
  • Understanding or growing knowledge of competency-based teaching and learning

  • Demonstrated sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community members with a continuous focus on healthy relationship building
  • Commitment to a lifetime of learning, personal and professional integrity, and the capacity to serve as a model of openness, generosity, and acceptance
