Holton-Arms School is seeking applicants for a Middle School Math Teacher for the 2024-25 school year.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teach 7th and 8th grade math utilizing the Illustrative Mathematics curriculum;
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with students and parents;
  • Work collaboratively with other math teachers in the department, division colleagues, and administrators;
  • Provide math support outside of class time as needed, including during the dedicated Student-Teacher Time (office hours);
  • Serve as an advisor, facilitating weekly meetings to promote student well-being;
  • Attend regular meetings and in-house professional development; and
  • Commit to academic excellence and support our Global Education and Diversity institutional priorities.
Qualifications: A successful applicant will have demonstrated the following experience and abilities:
  • Knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment with the ability to implement quality, inclusive teaching, and learning programs while sustaining a culture of access and equity in Math. Experience with differentiation in a mixed-ability classroom is preferred.
  • Commitment to working with adolescents and to teaching in the middle school.
  • Capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning, assessment, and classroom management practices. Experience teaching with Illustrative Mathematics resources is a plus.
  • Depth of knowledge in mathematical problem solving, reasoning and proof, mathematical communication, and effective use of technology.
  • Passion for developing a deep conceptual understanding of mathematical concepts, as well as student application of concepts learned.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, parents, staff, and colleagues.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with grade-level team members to ensure a cohesive program across the grade and middle school.
  • Desire to pursue ongoing professional development, making the most of the opportunities both within and outside the school to improve teaching and to demonstrate to the girls the value of lifelong learning.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and learning, striving to engender a joy of learning in all students.

Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree, preferably in Education or Mathematics, with a graduate degree, preferred.
* Experience teaching at the middle school level, preferably at an all-girls school.
* Understanding or growing knowledge of competency-based teaching and learning.
