Responsibilities

As a Structural Health Monitoring Engineer you will work within a government - contractor team designing and testing current and next generation naval and commercial platforms

 

This is a full time onsite position in West Bethesda MD

 

What you will do:

 

Responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and deploying shipboard and shore-based systems to model, monitor, and predict naval platform structural health.  Tasking will span the lifecycle of Structural Health Monitoring systems including the design, development, and updates of ship condition databases and/or individual ship digital twins, definition of shipboard and shore-based system architectures for ship data collection and processing systems, development of required documentation such as ship change documents or authority to operate, installation of sensors and acquisition, data collection or retrieval, system troubleshooting and maintenance, and system capability expansion.  Tasks will include analyses to assess accuracy of analysis algorithms, methods for error handling (sensor, data, software errors), data science to improve real-time shipboard decision making, improvement of data visualization tools, and development of SHM system training materials.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

 

BS in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering.  5+ years of experience.  Experience in marine structures preferred

 

  • Experience in ship digital twin and/or ship condition databases
  • Experience in development of structural health data acquisition, storage, processing, or analysis systems
  • Possess or able to obtain certification necessary for IAT Level II
  • Must be U.S. Citizen
  • Requires an Active DoD SECRET Clearance or ability to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance prior to start date.

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
