Summary

Main Campus is hiring a Food Services First Cook! Full Time with benefits, M-F 5:45a-215p.

The Cook is vital to the team and responsible for the daily selection and preparation of all food items. Maintains all quality and quantity standards as well as department safety and health standards for food production and cleanliness. Role Duties include:

1. Assists with menu cycle, planning, and staffing. Ensures staff adheres to safety and health standards and meets quality and production standards.

2. Cooks food following prescribed menu utilizing proper equipment and following recipes as appropriate.

3. Ensures the proper rotation of all food products and assists the Sous Chef in maintaining and controlling proper inventory levels at all times.

4. Assists in the daily training and supervision of kitchen staff.

5. Assists the dietary team in the development of new/revised recipes.

6. Assists in the ordering, receiving, and check-in of all incoming food products to ensure the freshness of all goods and correct levels of inventory.

7. Maintains and follows all standards set for the department regarding cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and health regulations.

8. When feasible, covers all cooking and food prep positions during scheduled days off or vacations.

9. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age of the patients served in the department.

10. As needed assists with the setup and execution of major catered events.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Graduate of culinary school preferred or equivalent.
  • One + years' experience in institutional facility as a first cook or higher.
  • Must have strong verbal communication skills and comprehension abilities, must speak and read directions as needed

Working Conditions

Stands for all of shift. Lifts up to 50 pounds

Exposed to heat, steam, cuts, burns, equipment and slippery floors.
