Description

Summary

Phlebotomy Educator to conduct a series of phlebotomy training classes for nurses. Must have demonstrated classroom teaching experience as well as clinical experience performing phlebotomy in a hospital environment.

Classes will be scheduled by Clinical Department Supervisors/Directors according to nurse availability and will be mostly weekday evenings and weekend days.

Must have excellent communication skills and demonstrated classroom trainer/mentor skills with positive team building. Must be able to objectively assess trainee learning/progress/competency.

Must be proficient in drawing venous blood samples on both adult and pediatric patients following standard operating procedures in hospital enviromment. Uses butterfly needles when deemed necessary to draw from hand veins, and can perform finger sticks as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Certification from approved phlebotomy program, medical assistant and or certified nursing assistant program that includes phlebotomy/EKG training.
  • At least 2 years teaching experience in a classroom environment is required with at least two years hands on phlebotomy experience in a hospital healthcare setting including phlebotomy on all age groups (pedi through adult).
  • Must be reliable and dependable.
  • Other skills: Point of Care/EKG
