Summary
Under general direction of the Assistant Facilities Director, maintains medical gas system equipment, non-domestic and domestic water systems, drainage, and natural gas supply systems in safe and working condition. Installs, removes, services and make repairs to steam supply lines, condensate return lines, steam traps and steam operated equipment in hospital owned facilities. A strong knowledge of all piping fixtures, fixed appliances, and appurtenances in connection with all reverse osmosis deionized water, sanitary drainage, storm drainage, special wastes, and their venting systems. Locations are 20 Staniford Street and 243 Charles Street.

Working Conditions
Due to the hazardous environment and risk present in position, incumbent must adhere to all departmental and regulatory standards set for hazard/safety precautions in order to minimize risk and exposure.
Uses personal protection devices and actions to reduce risks and/or exposure to: noise, electricity, infectious material, sharp objects, steam (up to 100 psig), water pressure up to 300 psig and drain systems, respiratory hazards, fire, hot and cold environments, lifting/pushing, chemicals, heights and elevated platforms, wet surfaces, power tools, electrical wires and laboratory materials (chemicals, radioisotopes, etc.) introduced into the drain system. Works with chemicals. Exposed to local exterior climate extremes. Exposure to outside climate.
Lifting and pushing (15 to 44 lbs). Moving heavy equipment (over 100 lbs). Reaching, walking, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling. Works in cramped areas.
