Job Description
Description SECTION 508 TESTER (IRS508-21-1641-F): Bowhead seeks a Section 508 Tester who will provide over site to 508 Testing, and apply 508 testing knowledge to compliance for the IRS. The Section 508 Tester will be working with a team of IRS professionals to maintain the 508 Compliance for its customers. Section 508 Program Office is an organization within the US Department of the Treasury's, Office of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that provides agency wide support Assistive Technology (AT) as a reasonable accommodations and technical Section 508 guidance for IRS projects and Agency initiatives. * Working Knowledge of Inspection/Testing tools. Able to independently demonstrate testing acumen. Does not require assistance or support with testing. * Working Knowledge of the appropriate way to use AT for testing. Able to recommend and defend the proper specification and configuration for each of the IRS Standard AT, when using the AT as a test tool. * Ability to translate non-conformance to Test Standards into a Risk statement based on the impacted user population * Basic familiarity with the components of a standard IT SDLC: Plan, Define, Design, Build, Deploy, Transfer to Ops, etc. * Understands Agile software development and traditional project management, such as Scrum and Waterfall * Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 Principles, Guidelines, Success Criteria, and Sufficient Techniques * 508 Testing Ability. * Demonstrated ability to utilize JAWS, Dragon, and Zoomtext (at a minimum) as testing/troubleshooting tools. * Report Writing. * Knowledge of 508 law including provisions. * Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 Principles, Guidelines, and Success Criteria. Email communication. * Responsible for compliance with the Section 508. Completes reporting materials and other necessary documentation as required including test logs and VPATs. Ability to explain concepts specific to the area of information technology to an audience lacking familiarity with such concepts. * Basic familiarity with the components of a standard IT SDLC: Plan, Define, Design, Build, Deploy, Transfer to Ops, etc. Knowledge of 508 law including provisions. Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 Principles, Guidelines, Success Criteria, and Sufficient Techniques. 508 Testing Ability. Report Writing. * Coordinate and prioritize 508 Compliance testing activities and the work with multiple development teams and software projects. * Write test report documentation that is clear and easy to consume by both technical and non-technical audience. * Experience with 508 Compliance test scripts and reporting of test results * Experience with 508 Compliance testing of web software applications * Must have the ability to independently troubleshoot software 508 Compliance issues including testing and troubleshooting SW/HW accessibility issues * Understanding of the formal software development process and quality assurance standards Requirements In accordance with Executive Order 14042: Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors, candidates should be aware that they may be required to have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire. * A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in relevant area is desired. Relevant certification preferred. * No less than three years of substantive and relevant experience in 508 * Certified DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester & DHS Trusted Tester Certification for Web on Windows- Preferred SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust (NAC) level.
