HDR is seeking an experienced Regional Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Design Lead.

The Regional Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Design Lead will report directly to Transportation Mobility Electrified Practice Lead. The primary responsibility for this position will be the design and implementation of vehicle charging infrastructure. The Regional EVSE Design Lead will work cooperatively with the Resources Electrification Mobility Lead for work schedules, coordination, report development and perform project deliverable quality control.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical advice and assistance to team, clients, and technical personnel.
  • Provide technical delivery and task support on projects.
  • Provide electrical engineering design for electric vehicle charging station projects. Design includes development of one-line through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing and permitting agencies for code compliance
  • Coordinate project workload to deliver documents on schedule
  • Conduct work sessions at the project sites in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines
  • Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
  • Coordinate closely with civil and geotechnical engineers to develop a complete design package for electric vehicle charging stations.
  • Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment for charging systems, electrical systems, and devices
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, Request for Information (RFI), Construction Progress Reports (CPR) and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed
  • Conduct quality assurance/quality control on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians
  • Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and vendors to support business development activities
  • Perform other duties as needed

ANTICIPATED TECHNICAL DELIVERY PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and review technical specifications and design plans and construction documents.
  • Develop and review engineering design plans, specifications, and cost estimates at different design levels.
  • Develop and evaluate technical specifications for charging equipment.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Civil and Mechanical Engineering degrees with experience in EVSE design will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 2-years' experience designing electric vehicle charging stations
  • 5+ years' experience in electrical design (lighting/power/systems)
  • Design experience adhering to National Electrical Code and county, city and state codes, ordinances and standards
  • Registered Professional Engineer, PE
  • Strong computer skills, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and electrical design software
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in EVSE design desired
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
