Primary Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Senior Technical Designer will be to lead a multi-discipline team in the preparation of design and contract documents. The ideal candidate will have both design and production experience. They will establish client and internal meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance. The Senior Technical Designer is responsible to review the architectural documents for sustainable criteria compliance and coordinates team review and verification of sustainable criteria. They will review architectural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines as well as write/edit architectural specifications. The ideal candidate may lead some projects in a dual management role and may provide, on an as needed basis, construction contract administration. #LI-JF1

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates should submit both a resume and portfolio to be considered for the position.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Proficient in current BIM/Revit platform
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule)
  • Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills
  • Strong ideation/conceptual design skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication and demonstrated oral and written presentation skillsAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Architectural registration is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Adobe CS preferred, and experience with Rhino, desired
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED is preferred
  • Local candidates preferred.
  • Experience in complex building types such as Education|Science|Technology, Health and Civic
  • Experience with energy analysis plug-ins (Honeybee, Ladybug, Green Building Studio, DIVA, Sefaira and Energy Plus) is desired.
  • Experience and understanding of building energy codes is desired.
  • Experience and understanding of basic building physics principals is desired.
