Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies is hiring a Computer Engineering & Data Science Graduate Intern to join the Equipment Reliability Test team within our Innovation & Development department. This team designs, builds, and operates life-test fixtures for new products while working alongside the design team to ensure reliability of equipment products.

This role will involve extensive testing, data collection and analysis for a new product currently in development. There is a lot of opportunity to drive the direction of activities, learn and use powerful tools and get support and knowledge from senior engineers.

Example projects this intern may work on include:

  • Automation of Test Fixtures
    • Writing python program to help automate writing the lower level scripting language XML (which drives the test fixtures)
    • Software scripting of automated process for actuators and sensors that interact with electromechanical medical device assembly and subassemblies to simulate routine use of those assemblies
    • Hardware/software interfacing and testing for the above utilizing embedded software tools used in device software
    • Data management including identification of factors for study and desired output of those factors for future analysis
  • Data Processing of Log Files from Test Fixtures
    • Setting up files to collect data with PyCharm within a given Azure framework
      • Developing variables which would be later used to develop meaningful trending and predictions to failures
    • Managing all data from devices and data analysis for anomaly detection and prediction of failures
    • Dashboarding and reporting on key metrics of device and fixture success using Power BI
  • Process and Best Practice Definition
    • Documenting the planning and process procedures so the team can best build and collaborate
    • Exploring different approaches and making recommendations on tasks to build infrastructure for future benefit

Skills and experience this intern will gain:

  • Python coding for test automation
  • Using PowerBI to create dashboards and report on key metrics
  • Insight into working in a highly regulated industry for a global organization

Internship Details

  • Duration: 3 months (Summer 2021)
  • Full-time: 40 hours per week
  • 100% onsite at our facility in Lakewood, Colorado (relocation package not available)

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Completed bachelor's degree AND/OR currently pursuing a master's degree
    • Preferably in Computer Science, Data Science or Engineering

Skills:

  • Strong data processing and analytics in Python
  • Knowledge and experience in SQL
  • Data pipeline development experience
  • Problem solving skills, ability to contribute to decisions and design solutions
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills

Target Pay Range:$30.00to$30.00- Hourly pay rateto be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
