HDR is looking for a Senior Construction Engineer to join our Transportation Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team in the Columbia, SC area. The individual will be assisting with oversight of a large project inspection team involving earthwork, storm drainage, asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, and structures for conformance to plans and specifications. The individual will assist the Project Manager with preparing correspondence, reviewing submittals and schedules, calculations and computations, and contract documentation duties. Work may include other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Minimumf of 10 years of experience in construction engineering and inspection for transportation projects, managing transportation construction projects, and/or progressive levels of managment experience working for a transportation agency required

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field of study is required

Must have considerable knowledge of materials, construction methods, and equipment used in highway and bridge construction

Must have considerable knowledge of mathematical functions and experience using SiteManager software

Must have skills in the use of computers and Excel spreadsheets

Must have the ability to read, interpret, and explain such things as construction plans, contract provisions, and specifications

Must have the ability to take notes and prepare or review reports, good communicative ability and the ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods

Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.

Work requires travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections

Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law

An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

Local candidates are preferred

SCDOT certifications, other DOT certifications or the ability to get is preferred but not a requirement for this position
