Primary Responsibilities

HDR is looking for a licensed senior mechanical engineer that has experience working on facilities within multiple industries including water and wastewater, federal facilities, transportation, and hydropower. HDR NorCal's multi-disciplinary facility design group works on some of the largest projects in California and across the country. The candidate will be:

  • A proficient HVAC and plumbing system design engineer with experience designing to ASHRAE 90.1 and LEED requirements.
  • An experienced multi-disciplined project manager and a proficient writer with experience writing specifications, design narratives and supporting proposals.
  • Working knowledge of REVIT is required and knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.

In the role of Section Manager Team Leader, we'll count on you to:

  • Take responsibility for operations of production section including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control and marketing support
  • Function as Project Manager and take responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilities
  • Take administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other section
  • Be involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviews
  • Be directly involved with industrial and public clients in marketing, project production and related issues
  • See that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management system
  • Implement, monitor and support company policy
  • Select, train, develop and manage technical personnel
  • Manage and develop multidiscipline teams
  • Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production efforts
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering degree preferred)
  • California Mechanical Engineering PE
  • Minimum 10 years design experience managing various civil/site design projects
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project and Revit MEP
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Work samples to be requested for review.
